    PDF -- nice history of computer vision solutions to the jigsaw puzzle problem nice pictures of reconstruction challenges This guy had been working on the jigsaw problem for at least 6 years before publishing this paper - his first publication on this topic was in 1997, he also has a 2002 paper that deals with puzzle piece extraction and corner detection
  • 2004 DeBock CONSTRUCTING THE TOPOLOGICAL SOLUTION OF JIGSAW PUZZLES
    PDF -- this guy did his masters thesis on computer vision and jigsaw puzzles he seems to be one of the first to do non-canonical work, but I cant seem to find the paper cited by many after him called "Computer Vision Techniques for Semiautomatic Reconstruction of Ripped-up Documents."
